Our Bet Hebrew class has been studying the Shema prayer and what the difference is between hearing and listening. Start a conversation with your child and see what they think! Ask them to take a deep breath and see how long they can draw out the word Shema.
Learning the prayer for the consecration service led us to interest in our Hebrew names and what they mean. We talked about what an ancestor is, who they were named after, where that person came from and how they got to America. This could lead to some great family conversation between the generations of your family. If you come across an old photo of an ancestor and can photocopy it, have your child bring it to school. A phone call to a grandparent also can lead to some very enlightening chatter. Jot down some of the info if you can, to share next Tues. THANKS! Morah Miriam
